Gottman Level I Trained
Hi! My name is Meridith, and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate. I work with couples who want to feel more connected, understood, and intentional in their relationship. Many couples come to therapy not because everything is falling apart, but because they sense something could feel more steady — conversations could flow more easily, emotional closeness could deepen, and partnership could feel more aligned.
My approach to couples therapy is thoughtful, structured, and collaborative. I work with couples of all genders, sexual orientations, and relationship identities, and I strive to create a space where each partner feels respected, affirmed, and seen. I help partners understand the patterns shaping their relationship and identify small, meaningful changes that support long-term connection. Therapy becomes a space to slow down, reflect together, and build skills that strengthen the relationship over time.
I am trained in the Gottman Method and integrate Solution-Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy in my work with couples and individuals. These approaches enable us to focus on strengths, clarify values, and examine how personal and relational stories — including those shaped by culture, identity, and lived experiences — influence the way people interact with one another. Sessions are intentional and grounded, striking a balance between insight and practical tools that can be applied outside the therapy room.
I also work with individuals navigating relationship stress, anxiety, life transitions, identity exploration, and burnout. I enjoy supporting clients as they explore questions around identity, boundaries, and belonging, and I am committed to providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care that honors each person’s unique experience without assumption or judgment.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years as a professional musician and educator. That background shapes how I understand growth and connection — meaningful change happens through awareness, practice, and shared effort over time. Outside of therapy, I enjoy hiking, running, and spending time outdoors with my dog and my fiancé. I value balance, curiosity, and intentional living, and I aim to bring those same qualities into the therapy space. If you’re interested in deepening connection and moving forward with greater clarity and intention, I would be glad to work with you.
